Building Gender, Race and Place

This course examines how gender, race and other social relations of power figure in the creation of place and how place also shapes social relations of power. Topics may include how specific groups of people, such as women and men, youth, racially and sexually marginalized people, people living in poverty, and people with (dis)abilities, create place and contest uses of the built environment in Canada. Prerequisite: 30 credits of university level courses or permission of the instructor. (lec 1 sem 2) cr. 3
